They hug each other, crying out loud.

Inside the room, the family members are looking at the dead body, holding their tears.

Samwol: If you haven't left us yet, please come back to us, sir. Are you really gone, sir?

Joojung: Father… Father! (Cries out loud, and everyone else follows her crying).

NEXT SCENE

Old man: Let's make this a nine style ceremony.

Father: My father would like to keep this simple.

Man 1: Our name is at stake. So let's make this nine style…

Father: My father wants to keep this at five.

Man 1: You have the means. We should use this opportunity to let the people know who we are.

Old man: Don't you know President Ha's intentions? I think he wants to keep this quiet as not to disrupt the town.

Man 1: It's unlawful not to listen to us, the counsel of elders, and do as he pleases.

Old man: If it wasn't for President Ha, our clan would have disappeared from the books.

Man 2: You're right. It was President Ha who restored our lost heritage. And it was him who brought our families together when we were all spread out from each other. I feel it's only right to let him do as he pleases.

Old man: If there're no more comments, let's vote on this.

Joojung: These old men love to debate about rituals. (to the dead old man) You must be happy, father!

NEXT

Cleansing of the dead body and preparation for burial.

TY's wife: Grandfather should have something to eat. He didn't eat anything since yesterday afternoon.

SY's wife: When one of the parents die, the son is supposed to fast for 4 days.

TY's wife: What?

Samwol: During a funeral service, we must just follow the first wife's instructions.

TY's wife: But he's an old man… 4 days is too long…

Samwol: That's the law. Besides, President Ha wouldn't eat even if you ask him to.

Jongmal: (Crying) Grandma!

Samwol: You came.

Jongmal: How shocking! He was perfectly fine in the morning!

Samwol: That's right… How shocking! Did you bring everything I asked you to bring?

NEXT

Dong Dong: Dad!

TY: Yes.

Dong Dong: (struggling with his tie) How do you do this?

TY: I don't know how to do this either.

Father: Let's all be serious.

TY: (Kicking DD) I'm reprimanded because of you.

DD: Why do you kick me?

SY: Come over here. (He helps DD)

DD: Dad, is there anything you do well?

TY: You boy! (After a pause, he walks towards his brother) Do mine also. DD's mom did my ties every morning.

NEXT

TY's wife: Grand aunt! I'm curious… He passed away in Seoul. Why did they bring the body to Jongtaek without even cleaning his body? Does he need to be buried in this town?

Joojung: Don't you know I'm a rebellious child?

TY's wife: Grand-aunt… how can you say that? (Looking to the other women, then to SY's wife) Big sister, you know the answer, don't you?

Danah: There cannot be any funeral preparation before the morning lamentation.

TY's wife: What's a morning lamentation?

Danah: Mr. Park took great-grandfather's pajamas and cried a lamentation on the rooftop in the morning.

TY's wife: I see… That's like an announcement of the death, isn't it?

DA: Not really. It's a petition for the soul to come back to us if it has not left us completely.

Joojung: That's pure nonsense. Once he's dead, he's gone. What do we call him for? We just need to pretend we're good children. (She walks out)

TY's wife: Our grand-aunt's so peculiar. She cried the most, but she's already moved on. By the way, you went through this type of funerals in your parent's household, right? This is my first, so I don't know what to do.

SY's wife: What if I know what to do? I'm a first wife accused of adultery.

NEXT

The elders are still debating about the right ways of honoring the ancestors. Joojung is listening to them with disdain. Danah joins her, looking at her grand aunt with concern.

JJ: What?

DA: Nothing…

JJ: You're scared I'm going to say something out of place?

DA: Grandma…

JJ: Look at the excited faces of those old men. They're taking this business so seriously. (looking at DA) If I wasn't your grand-aunt, you'd like to force my mouth shut, wouldn't you?

DA: Mother always worried for you. She wished you'd cry and complain some times.

JJ: I guess your mom didn't know that my entire life is full of complains…

NEXT

Incense burning and bowing to the spirits.

JJ: (to Samwol) You don't want me to drink, do you?

Samwol: Just a little.

JJ: I'm trying hard to hold my tongue.

Dong Dong: Mom! I'm hungry. (TY's wife looks at the granny, wondering if that's allowed)

Samwol: The little ones should eat.

NEXT

DD: (refusing to eat kimchi) I don't want this.

Mom: You must eat this.

DD: I don't like kimchi.

Mom: You still must eat this, from now on.

DD: I don't want to!

Mom: Just eat this. From now on, you should eat the vegetables. You can't continue eating just rice with ham.

DD: My stomach hurts when I force myself to eat something I don't like.

Mom: Your elders will scold you.

DD: I don't live at grandpa's house.

Mom: You might have to live with them.

DD: Dad's not the first born. Why would we live with grandpa?

NEXT

TY's falling asleep. SY gives him a knock.

TY: I'm going to wash my face.

SuckHo: (to grandpa) It's still a long way to go. Maybe you should sleep a little.

Mangi: Do you understand why we use a different letter to describe a person's death than an animal's?

SuckHo: Because there's a difference in reverence?

Mangi: If you understand that, you'd live differently.

NEXT

TY: (to DD) Did you eat?

DD: Yes.

TY: (to wife) I think I also need to eat. (wife stares at him) It's better than throwing the food away.

Wife: The boy's listening.

TY: (to DD) Don't you want to go to the bathroom?

DD: Not really.

TY: Go to the bathroom.

DD: I don't want to go.

TY: Go anyways. (to wife) Honey… you know my heart, don't you? I can't do anything without you. I know I'm able to function only thanks to you.

Wife: Get out.

TY: I know you're upset at me, but still…

Wife: Upset?

TY: You're disappointed.

Wife: I lost all hope, you jerk.

TY: Why are you like this, honey? Can't you forgive that little incident?

Wife: (stepping hard on his foot) Save your nagging to someone else, you jerk!

TY: Honey, you know I trust you, don't you?

NEXT

DA: (massaging the granny's shoulders) What would we do without you, granny? (They continue listening to the elder's debates)

Samwol: It's always sad to see someone die. But since so many of his descendants are crying over him, I feel he's less lonely, don't you think so?

DA: Will you feel like that when you go also?

SW: Stop it. I don't want to hear you crying for me. How would I go in peace then?

DA: Then, you could come back to us…

SW: I don't want to. I want to leave soon, and see my lady. Why would I return?

DA: Who do you prefer? Me or my grandma?

SW: Bring me a scale. Let me weight you against each other.

DA: (hugging her) Even if you must go, don't go too soon. Who would I lean on if you're not here?

SW: OK, I'll live as long as I can keep my sanity. My Danah's so blessed. You're going to clean after me…

NEXT

After clothing the dead body and stuffing the mouth with food, they put him inside the coffin. Everyone's crying "Aygo! Aygo! Aygo!"

They bury the coffin.

Man 1: Elder Kwang mourned for 29 months. Elder Moo mourned for 35 months.

Elder: Why do you continue saying that?

Man 1: I'm just disappointed we're doing so little this time. I'm afraid this will become the norm.

Old man: Shut up!

Man 1: What is one month of mourning? (Crying)

NEXT

Visitors are walking inside. DA's students came.

Student 1: Professor!

DA: You traveled so far you must be tired…

Student 1: We wanted to send a few representatives only but we thought this might be the only chance to witness a traditional funeral. So we had to draw a raffle number to come here.

Student 2: The professors will leave Seoul in the afternoon, and those who went to Jeju Seminar will come as soon as they're done there.

DA: There's no need for all that… Anyhow, I'm thankful to you all.

Student 2: Let's go inside and pay our respects.

DA: (looking at Hyung Gyu) You're not in my classes. What are you doing here?

HG: I won the raffle ticket.

DA: Why did you take part of that?

HG: Didn't you know I'm pretty good at gambling?

DA: Go inside.

HG: I'm staying till the end. The more help you get, the better.

DA: Don't you have anything better to do?

HG: Aren't you still glad I'm staying?

NEXT

Students are listening to the explanation of the different parts of these funeral rituals and taking notes. HG is listening, looking bored.

DD: Mister, why aren't you taking notes?

HG: Me? I'm not in this class.

DD: What?

HG: I'm not a history major.

DD: Then, why did you come?

HG: Who are you?

DD: I'm the great-great son.

HG: Great-great son? That means your great-grandfather passed away. How many generations apart? (counting with his fingers)

DD: You look stupid, Mister.

HG: Hey you, don't call me mister. Call me hyung (older brother). I'm pretty close with your aunt.

DD: Are you my aunt's boyfriend? (All the students look at them)

HG: I'm just a younger brother of hers.

DD: My aunt doesn't have a younger brother. What a weird man you are!

HG: I told you I'm your hyung…

NEXT

The elders are raising their voices, still debating.

TY's wife: Why are they fighting?

SY's wife: It's always like this.

TY's wife: They've so much energy. They're not tired of debating.

NEXT

Joojung's coworkers walk inside.

Boss: Wow! I knew you came from a noble family, but I didn't realize it was to this scale!

JJ: If you can admire a nobility that was bought with money, then I'll accept your complement.

Boss: Gosh! Always breaking the mood.

Colleague: (JJ pulls his sleeve) What's wrong?

JJ: Buy me a drink.

NEXT

Student 2: (explaining to students) The food that he used to have while he was alive has been prepared.

People are meditating with their eyes closed.

Jongmal: (to granny) What's wrong? Who are you looking for?

NEXT

Colleague: I'm going crazy! I can't believe this is happening. You're his only daughter. How can you be out here getting drunk during the funeral? Is this really happening?

JJ: Isn't money great?

Colleague: What?

JJ: You can do everything with money. You can re-establish a nobility with money.

Colleague: Of course money's good.

JJ: My father… he was addicted to gambling.

Colleague: Who, your father?

JJ: He was born in a noble family and inherited lots of money. But he lost it all, and he run away after selling his family's name away. Don't you think his life was pretty dramatic?

Col: How was your family's name restored?

JJ: Through money! My brother worked really hard and with that money he bought this amazing family name!

Col: Can you buy a family's name with money?

JJ: Is there anything that money cannot buy? Nothing. You can buy a family's clan, just like you can buy a nation.

Col: That's right! Just like the Israelites.

JJ: Yes! The Israelites! Is there a bigger clan than the Israelites? They're smart and hard workers. And with that money they bought the land. How romantic! Ha ha!

NEXT

DA: (to colleague) Have you seen my grand-aunt?

Col: She's sleeping in my car. If you go on like this, you might faint.

Grandpa: I heard he fed me porridge at first. He wanted to save the motherless baby, so your grandfather cooked wheat for me because he didn't even have white rice back then. Then, he feared he might lose me, so he held me tight and he went around the town, begging for any kind mother to breastfeed me. Then, after finally someone breastfed me, he brought me home. When? I had my eyes closed meditating deeply about your great grandfather.

DD: Do you snore while meditating?

TY: Don't argue with me. Even though I'm 4 years older… other men aren't like that to their wives.

SY: I always talked like this to you.

Wife: Why didn't you tell the elders from the beginning? That you'd marry anyone they'd pick, but to pick for you someone around your age.

SY: I never complained you were older than me.

Wife: Of course. That's why I'm sorry.

Wife: Stop talking like that! I did it because I missed the touch of a man. Is there anything else we should discuss?

SY: Honey…

Wife: I wish you'd raise your voice to me, at least once. You told me that the dead can see everything. (touching her heart) Here… right here, father! It hurts a lot. I won't forgive you, father… Never. If we buy one such names, we can easily arrange this type of funerals also. Take good notes. Make sure you write everything that's happening here.

KS: Yes, I'll take mental notes.

CG: Are you giving $1,000 won offering?

KS: Isn't that too much?

CG: If you want to get noticed, you have to do it well. KS feels uncomfortable) I was surprised at the number of guests here. The town official should come here to help organize the traffic. I will speak to him on my way back.

Sukho: I thank you for your concern but we wouldn't want to disrupt the town.

CG: Still, the elder of a great family has passed away. The officers of this town should… (KS hints him to stop talking) Anyways, I'd like to see how an aristocratic family does the funeral services. I myself descended from an aristocratic family, but I must recover its status first, so I feel connected to this situation here. Please, allow me to greet you again later before I leave. (He leaves with his son)

TY: What family name is he trying to restore?

NEXT

CG: What are those boxes in the front for?

KS: How should I know?

CG: Write that down. How much offering would they collect overall anyways? This looks a lot more sophisticated. Write this down also. When I die… (showing the $10,000 won bill) put $20,000 wons instead.

NEXT

CG: I really feel connected with all this. Seeing that you're wearing the mourning dress, I guess you are a member of this family. How are you related with the diseased person? (DA tries to ignore him and leave but KS stands in front of her) Is it OK for noble families to ignore the questions of their guests?

DA: I'm his great-grand daughter.

KS: I see. You were in a rushed then. It must have been because of your great grand father's health. Then… your family's pretty well off. If you were so desperate to take that plane, you should have given me the $100 million wons I asked you. I would have given you terms.

DA: How intolerable! To joke in front of someone who's mourning the death of an elder!

KS: Holy cow! Surely the noble people do act and talk differently than most people. Did you learn that from school? (DA tries to leave again but KS holds her) I'm really curious. I want to teach this to my sister. (SLAP!)

Samwol: Danah! What have you done? He's a guest.

KS: (touching his cheek) This hurts.

Samwol: This child has gone through a great loss, that's why she's overreacting. Please, forgive her.

KS: You must be the wife of the diseased man. Nice to meet you.

Samwol: I'm the house keeper.

NEXT

CG: These people! What are they so curious for? (bumping into KS) Where were you?

KS: I just walked around.

CG: Did you find anything interesting?

KS: Of course we must get an aristocratic name. But we must also find a good house keeper.

CG: What about a house keeper?

KS: If you want to do this, you must do it well. Over here, even the kitchen lady talks differently.

CG: Then you must scout her. How much salary does she get?

NEXT

KS is examining a room, and he finds a picture inside a book.

Jongmal (serving food to CG): We kept this simple because it's a funeral, but please, enjoy this. (Looking at the picture KS's holding) Oh! That's Danah's picture.

KS: Is she the great grand daughter of this household?

Jongmal: Yes. But how did you find that picture?

KS: It was inside this book.

Jongmal: Yes…

KS: This looks like an ancient picture.

Jongmal: This was taken while she was studying in Chonghakdong.

KS: Chonghakdong? Did the young lady grow up in Chonghakdong?

Jongmal (putting the picture back): Yes.

CG: Miss.

Jongmal: Yes?

CG: Did all the children of this household get educated in Chonghakdong?

Jongmal: Not really.

CG: You just said that the picture was taken while growing up in Chonghakdong.

Jongmal: Only Danah. She studied there since she was 7, for 10 years.

CG: It must be their norm to send their girls to study in Chonghakdong. That makes sense. That could be the best way to teach a girl good manners. What if we send Haejoo…? I guess it's pretty late? I should have known these things before!

NEXT

Outside. Family members are gathered in the middle, kneeling down in front of the tomb and crying 'aygo'! The rest are standing behind them.

CG: We are a small family, that might be a problem.

Lee KangSuck watches Danah grieving deeply. What are you doing? You don't sleep nor eat, and you're just working. You can get sick easily like that.

DA: I'm fine. Granny, don't we have any medicine against dizziness?

Samwol: Dizziness? Someone's dizzy?

DA: Yes, a member of Dad's company.

Samwol: We don't have a medicine for dizziness, but we might have Mr. Ha's digestive pills.

NEXT

Danah's bringing the digestive pills and she overhears…

SH: You are expecting. Why did you travel this far?

YI: I wanted to witness how a member of the aristocracy does the funeral.

SH: I feel sorry that you're suffering like this because of morning sickness…

YI: It's only for today.

SH: What do you mean?

YI: I'm getting an abortion tomorrow.

SH: …

YI: Can the elder of the house leave the mourning spot?

SH: Please! Don't do anything rash! Right after the funeral, I'll go up to discuss with you.

YI: Discuss what? The abortion is fast and clean. (She walks away. But I think it's more urgent to find a traditional house. That would keep us quite busy… Anyways, they really look dignified, don't you think so?

KS: Yes, they do.

NEXT

The night continues, with a band of mourner/dancers crying in the traditional ways.

Woman 1: Where did they find a man with such a nice voice?

Woman 2: Really!

Woman 1: He's great.

Samwol: (to DA) Actually, the Ha clan didn't have crying dancers. Is the title implying that FH is makjang or not? Now now... what drama should I watch over the weekends?

Anyhow... I've been reading some Korean articles/blogs about this drama, and there's a blogger I really like... Do you think I could translate her writing (s)? I already asked her but didn't give her enough time to reply ...

Meanwhile, before you all leave us, let me give you a preview of what some of FH lovers are planning to do... Xjunebugs and I have decided to translate the whole series, and many other people offered to help us so I think it's doable.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but Shirley's the new owner of this thread, and she's trying to update/add links and info in the first page as we go. Let's applaud her and help her with all kinds of info/inputs! (Especially, sending her links.... I'll send her the ones I translated.)

As per the translations, I believe we could have editors and subbers later on, but for now, Xjunebugs finished episodes 46, 51, 53 & 54. She's now working on 52.

I did most of 46 (never mind, we could use Xjunebug's), 47 and 49. This means that, if we finish 48 and 50, we'll have finished translating 46 to 54. After this, I think we should start translating from episode 1 onwards.

I know Sandybabe translated previous episodes, plus there are other partial translations going around... if any of the translators read this, please let us know if you'd let us use your tranlations also.

I'm posting this here, first to encourage everyone to stay put, and also to ask for more volunteer translators. Eventually, I'd need everyone's e-mail addresses so that we could mass e-mail each other. But this is just the beginning stage...

FAMILY HONOR~ Fighting! So unless I find myself a partner, I decided not to begin this project. On the other hand, this episodes' sooooo good I'd like to translate, but don't know where to start... (missing the first 15 minutes)

Let me just share the beginning scene I watched from the shared file that Shirley uploaded today:

KS: (pointing a DA) If it wasn't for this woman, I would have continued looking down on those people, disgusted at their victim mentality. But I've changed. If I did any wrong, and I need to pay for it, I'll pay.

KS's mom: (tearing) Kang Suck...

KS: However, father... My heart is at peace, more than ever before. I feel at peace after acknowledging my wrongdoing.

KS's dad: If it wasn't for me, you might not have to face the insults from everyone...

KS: But father, even if I were to be born again, I will be born as your son (of both father & mother). But please, don't tell me then that I should fight against the world (to step on others before others step on you).

Dad: Yes, if we're born again as father and son, I'd tell you then that you should be kind to others, and that you shouldn't go around hurting people. I'd tell you that this is the way to find peace in your heart.

KS: I'll be waiting for such a day.

Dad: Wait and see how your father will act in our next existence...

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

FAMILY HONOR: Episode 49, SUMMARY EXPLANATION
By Priscilla (in Response to Shirley's Summary)

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<<< KS mother was totally in shock when she saw the husband with the woman . and just in time
TY and SY appeared and shout out to their in laws but they didnt see the choas infront of them lol
and KS father maanged to escape

DA father now busy with masaging his wife legs , the brothers came in and wondered what with the Lee family outside .they seem to be saying something seem to be happening with the lee family .
lol TY even bought a book for pregnant woman i suppose well it wasn't him who thought of the gift but SY but he claimed it as his credit ^~!
======
lee family , the mother was totally very upset and KS was trying to calm her down. she cannot believe
his father is doing this to her after what they been though ~tsk but she then went into tears thinking of her husband betrayl .

KS told her it shouldnt be what it seem , since their father will never do this .hhaa then the mother turned to DA and say dun trust him too* aka dun trust KS haha he share the same gene as the father .*maybe as a player ~ haha and this KS was like mother!how can youuuu say this thing about your son!~~ ...

KS phone rang haha his father called . and he went out to take the call . leaving his mother wailing and still telling DA about see what happened to your mother in law .dun trust the man too much .~

the father was outside the house ~ but dare not go in .he pulled KS aside and asked how is the situation inside . KS complains why he's paying for his father's sin, but DA tells him that this is to prevent future such sins... and also as a punishment for having followed his father to those places since he was in college.

Father: Why are you here?

KS: It' s all your fault, father!

Father: What did I do?

KS: I'm getting punished because you took me to the cabarets when I was in college.

Father: Wow! Your wife's a woman, just like others! I thought that, since she's so well mannered, she wouldn't get jealous.

KS: Are you happy now?

Father: I was bored, so I'm glad. Should we get some drink?

KS: If mother sees you drinking, she'll say you're not repenting.

Father: You're right... Go ahead and sleep here then.

KS: Why am I being punished because of you?

Father: Don't whine. It looks like your wife sent you here to keep me company because she couldn't bare see me sleeping alone in the sofa. You should be thankful to have such a thoughtful wife.

KS: Why should I sleep here instead of sleeping next to my pretty wife!

Father: Are you the only one with a wife? Stop boasting...

<<<<HJ asked DA to teach her how to sew ~ ..i think as a gift to HG , DA guessed right . KS came up to look for his blanket or something haha then HJ was saying something about him to DA that make KS tried to stop her . ( haha i think HJ was saying KS is scared of Cockroaches !! .hahha ~ .) DA find it so funnie to hear about KS ~ >>>>

To HJ, DA explains she sent her husband to keep the father company. Meanwhile, they decide to make fun of the 'husband/brother.' KS comes to grab a blanket and hears them. HJ tells DA that KS fainted once in his lifetime... when he was in High school, and he saw a roach... He denies it: "No, I didn't faint!" But HJ insists: "Yes, you DID!!"

<<<<granny at the garden talking to her young mistress ..>>>>

Granny is talking to her young mistress as if she were alive.

Granny: My lady, the weather seems nice! I was worried that it would rain on your wedding day but it's clear! My lady... people are saying that your husband's good looking!

<<<<the mother came out and saw father and son in the living room ..and just then DA was down to prepare breakfast and she asked DA why is KS also down .lol ....

she having coffee with DA ~ ahh KS mother was asking if she think they are so strange family .with such things happening but DA seem to comfort her .and saying no , that she find it interesting as her own parents dun really ..^ which make the mother suddenly so happy

lol KS wake up .and saw both of them in the kitchen and i think he was complaining how he cannot sleep in the sofa .his whole body ached !!

his mother ~ so funnie ..told DA about her son when he was young ~ hahah his secrets seem to be revealed to DA one by one by the women in his family ~ i think the mother say about how bad his studies and something else

hahah DA was saying she had thought he is a man with chrisma and now she changed her mind haha omg she make fun of him and say there is a coakcoach and he really jumped to hide behind her back~>>>>

Mother asks DA why she's up so early, and why is KS sleeping in the sofa.

DA: I think he felt sorry for father, he told me he'd sleep here.

Mother: Yeah right! We'd surely do that! You sent him here, didn't you? Let's have coffee.

She then tells DA: "You're thinking we're a messed up family, aren't you?" But DA tells her she envies their mutual honesty and spontaneity... that she never witnessed that while growing up. She wants to live like that... So the mother gets thrilled hearing this... She was like: "What would have happened if you didn't marry into our family! I would have gotten a snobbish girl as a daughter-in-law, who'd look down on us and talk behind our back! I don't want to even think about it!"

KS: (joining them) What about me? Don't you care about your poor son who slept in the sofa all night? (BTW~ Did you all notice the small couch where KS slept in? That must have felt like sleeping inside an airplane... tight tight, and uncomfortable...)

Mother: I'm amazed! You just got married and I see you waking up so early in the morning.

KS: My back hurts so much I couldn't sleep at all.

Mother: (to DA) Do you know something? KS wet his bed even after entering elementary school.

KS: Mother!

Mother: He knew how to read when he was 4 and he entered school knowing the table of multiplication. But somehow... he couldn't stop that.

KS: What's wrong with everyone in this family! Did you all plot together to humiliate me in front of this woman?

Mother: She should know those things.

KS: (Looking defiantly at DA) Yes! I wet my pants till I was 8. Are you happy now?

DA: The more I know you, you're far from being a charismatic man.

KS: If you'll continue saying these things, I'll leave home!

DA: (Looking down) Wow look! It's a roach!

KS jumps and hides behind DA.

DA: You're really scared of them...

KS: You're having too much fun dissing your husband!

QUOTE
who told you to be such a coward~ !

<<<<ah at breakfast ..JA dun have much appeitte .but grandaunt was exclaimed that is she also with baby whicih make it more worse for JA .. SY and grandfather in the room overheard what was said outside when grandaunt said is JA with baby .~
i think grandfather saying to SY they need to do something>>>>

Grandfather tells SY that they should both meet up outside the house (to discuss secret stuffs).

<<<<the mother in law going out with DA but still screaming at the father ~LOL ..ah they went to visit the woman at the hospital ~
the father waiting outside ~ i guess he is clear of his sins ..but the mother still asked him to keep his hands off ~>>>>

KS's Mom: (to DA) Are you ready?

KS's Dad: Honey, why are you taking her with you?

Mom: (to Dad) I was so confused yesterday I couldn't look at her face well! (to DA) You saw her, didn't you? You can recognize her face, right? (to Dad) One never knows... What if you replaced that girl with someone else?!

Dad: You should trust me...

Mom: How could I trust you!

AFTER CHECKING THE GIRL OUT

Mother tells DA to have dinner with KS instead of coming straight home. But DA refuses.

Mother: I'm telling you to comfort your husband for having slept so uncomfortably in the sofa.

<<<<DA went over to visit ..her mother YI .and she told him about TY baby ^!~ ..she feel happy to hear the news .haha i think the YI asked her about how is her plan ..about children ~
==
grandfather outside with SY . he saying to want to make what he said as truth .. is he saying to like make known that it is SY having the problem .like what SY said before .and let JA not feel so bad ..

SY asked JA out .^ TY was asking why you two are still on date ...it will make MS jealous and want me to do the same ~ .
=
at the school ...HJ run into one of her senior from before ~....HG saw the senior rubbing HJ hair ~ .hmm the senior abit werid ..trying to chat on HJ .though she doesnt seem to like welcome .. HG is really speaking with jealous eyes and asked HJ who is that man ~ ......the HG still doesnt seem happy with that answer ..lolll he doesnt like to see male senior doing such things to her .or rather why would a male senior do this to her if he doesnt have other interest or whatever .~ and he walked of
=======
KS with DA outside having dinner ~ ..KS seem like complaining abt what the father did .to get him into trouble but DA seem to say it is interesting ~ between his parents ~

i dun know why KS suddenly act angry and say he has no appeitte to eat anymore ~ ohhhh now they doing the coffee and phone message thing again ~ lol ...i hope this time we dun end up in accident ~>>>>

KS complains that his mother's giving him "sickness and remedy" at the same time (that she's playing with his emotions, giving him a problem and the solution).

DA: You're upset, aren't you?

KS: What do you mean?

DA: Your parents like me more than they like you. You're jealous, aren't you?

KS: That's right. The ball that came in later kicked the other ball out. So I'm jealous. Are you satisfied?

DA: Isn't your pride hurting? There's nothing this woman can't do. She plays the cards so well... she has no weaknesses... she's perfect. You're thinking that, aren't you?

KS: Are you writing a drama?

DA: I should find something more drastic to hurt your pride with. Hmmm... I can kill a roach with my bare hands. I finished my toilet training before I turned one.

KS: (throwing the fork away) I'm not eating!

DA: Your ego's hurt, so you can't eat?

KS: I can't eat after hearing about roaches! Happy now?

<<<<~ ohhhh now they doing the coffee and phone message thing again ~ lol ...i hope this time we dun end up in accident ~

er i think KS also share the same worry he froze when he saw this man who is a bit suspicious nearby ..and only when he realise it wasnt waht he think .then he haeved a sign of relief. DA held on his hands ..he cant seem to have a peace of mind with that man outside somewhere ....but DA comfort him

in his car ..he keep holding on so hard on her hands ...she asked why are you doing this .. he said it make him feel better i think~...oh suddenly he had to brake because of a car ..and he turned so worried if DA is okay .reminding what he know that it make her so scared if car are not driving steady . but she turned and just say .it is okay .she has him now ..and doesnt feel scared anymore like that

ohhh so cutee DA leaned over ot kiss him haha .and he suddenly stop the car at the road side ~see i was driving quietly and you do this and HE !!! . ......

OMGGGGGG this is the kiss i like to seee ~~ HAHAHA ...>>>>

DA tells him that they've been through so much that she's not scared anymore. And that... though she hopes it won't happen again... if they must go through another such trial... she's sure they'll survive.

WHILE DRIVING

DA asks him why he's holding her hand while driving, that it's dangerous. He tells her that he doesn't want to let go of his wife's hand, not even for a second.

DA: "I wonder how long it's going to last?... They say that the deepest fires burn down all the sooner. A month later, you might be telling me not to touch you, that I'm bothering while you're driving."

KS: "I dare you live till that day comes." (A car comes, dangerously cutting them off. KS steps on the breaks abruptly. He looks at DA, worried for her.)

DA: Didn't I tell you it's dangerous?

KS: Are you OK? Aren't you in shock?

DA: (smiling) I don't get like that anymore. I think I don't fear anything when I'm with you.

KS: (driving with both hands on wheel) I won't drive like this anymore. I can't do this. It's one thing to see you getting pale in shock... but now my heart sinks... so I can't do this anymore.

DA: I thought I'd never get over this. I thought I'd always get panicky when people step on the break suddenly... Isn't this amazing, seeing that I've healed naturally. Once you asked me if I didn't need some kind of remedy. I now feel I'm cured of that. And this... is my prize to you for curing me of this... (she kisses him on his cheek...)

KS: (He stops the car on the side) This is a punishment for touching someone who was quietly driving. (He kisses her deeply...!)

QUOTE
the kiss in motion ~that is such a sweet punishment *i want to be punished too~*

<<<<DD get hit again ~~~~.....hah i wondered what make the gal hit him again this time ~ ...he seem so pooor thing ~ was the two gals fighting over him and he went to try to break them off or something and got hit ~>>>>

Two girls were fighting over him and he tried to separate them when he got hit accidentally by one of them (a different girl). He's like "This all happens because I'm too popular with girls..."

TY: It's all because of you're just like your dad. I was always popular with girls.

Grandpa: Not only you... I was handsome enough when I was young, many girls cried over me.

GrandAunt: Brother... I think you're getting senile...

<<<<Ah SY and JA outside ~`he told JA about what grandfather said ...to make what he said as a lie as truth .and he make a promise to JA . JA teared up.

they returned home to see the police friend of MS sending the maid home ~
==============
granny seem to be forgetting something again ...she also somehow sense something is wrong with her . i think she saying to the young mistress , is it time you are taking me with you ?~
==============================================
Lee family ...wow they having such a spread .~~ ..the father in law cant stop praising DA haha and then KS was going to say the same thing .till DA signed him with her elbow * well rem what she taught him at the honeymoon .haha he turned the direction to say his mother also quite good .~at the dishes . and the father also see the signal .and started to say nice things about the mother . lol but i think the mother see through their act

later up in the room haha DA seem to lecture him abit again ~ * ohh i like this suit on him ) lee kang seok life is really so poor thing ..
haha DA was telling KS she will be going shopping with the mother in law and KS was like so horrified and say oh nooooo .and DA Was asking what~~ hahahah she will soon know what her mother in law is like when she go shopping .>>>>

Granny was planning to wash the blankets but Jomal tells her they did that yesterday. So granny tells the dead mistress: "My lady!~ I think it's time you call me home..."

DINNER TIME @ the LEE'S

Dad: This is the best potato soup I've ever tasted in my entire life! (Mother's staring)

KS: It's soooo delicious! What a great soup...! (He looks at DA's face and he remembers...) But this is nothing compares to the soup mother makes. Isn't it so, father?

Dad: (Getting it) Yes... Of course! No matter what, the potato soup your mother makes is the best!

KS: (to DA) You should practice some more. Get the secret recipe from mother, OK?

Mom: Are you going into acting school?

KS: What?

Mom: You should practice acting some more. It's too obvious you can't act.

KS: This isn't right...

Dad: She's telling you to practice some more acting! I could also tell you were just acting...

IN THEIR ROOM

DA: Can't you get that one right? Didn't we practice during our honeymoon?

KS: Here you go again!

DA: If you can't act, don't even try it!

KS: I tried my best after getting your signal.

DA: Just go to work, my husband who can't do anything right.

KS: Lee Kang Suk!~ I can't believe your life turned this way! Before I met you, I thought highly of myself...

DA: I could tell ever since the day you couldn't win the teddy bear for me.

KS: Oh, that's right! We must go get you some teddy bear. Let's go win the bear after work.

DA: We can't. I must go shopping with mother.

KS: Oh no!~ Shopping with mother would take you a minimum of 10 hours!

DA: 10 hours?!

<<<<the mother in law NEVER get tired ..but DA legs were sooooo stressed out from walking so much .but the mother in law say she is not tired .when she is shopping~~ !^

ahhhh she getting DA so many new clothes ~~ ...the mother in law think her daugthre in law is a model ~but the dresses were nice ~ haha DA in the dressing room and KS called .....hahah asked how is the shopping ..~ DA was like out of breathe because she was so busy trying the dress in the dress room and say she busy and shut the phone ~
================================
KS called his mother haha i think to rescue his wife ~ ...he told the wife ..the person * DA will be tired out from the shopping ..the mother in law simled and say this new groom .and asked if DA is tired haha ..the mother then say bye to the son on the phone ~...................finally they can sit down to eat`~!

ohhhh the run into one of her high and mighty friend ~! ..with the daughter .~!it just happen that DA knew the guest the other person was with ~! ..ah the person seem to speak well of professor HA, the mother in law feel abit pride now infront of the friend ~and the mother in law started to praise DA to the skies infront of the friend ~but the other daughter and mother pair seem to want to put them down with certain topic .haha but instead DA outspoke them~

the mother in law was soooo happy and went home telling the father and son about it!^^KS has no shame in saying how good his wife is ~>>>>

Mother: Let's drink some tea before continuing.

Voice of woman: My goodness, Mrs. Lee!

Mother: (Forcing a smile) Mrs. Choi!

Choi: This must be your daughter-in-law.

Mother: Yes.

Choi: I'm sad. Why wasn't I invited to the wedding? Please, sit down.

DA: (at the lady sitting in front) Professor!

Prof: Professor Ha Danah?

DA: (Smiling) Yes.

Prof: We saw each other at the seminar in Jeju, didn't we?

DA: Yes.

Prof: Nice to meet you here. Come sit over here.

Mother: Do you know each other?

DA: Yes, she's a professor at Seorundae University.

Prof: (to mother) You've got a great daughter-in-law. Many professors expect great things from her.

Choi: (to mother, pointing at the prof.) She's joining our Arts Club as an instructor. (pointing at the girl on her right) My daughter-in-law has lots of interest in history too, so I brought her along.

NEXT

Prof: (To DA) I read your last dissertation. It was great. (To mother) Our colleagues and I are nervous seeing this young and upstart of a professor!

DA: You're overpraising me.

Mother: In whatever she does, she won't rest till she gets it right.

Prof: Yes, you must be so proud of her.

Mother: She is great with academics. But she also excels in housework. I couldn't praise her enough!

DA: Mother...

Prof: Let her be. Your mother-in-law's so proud of you.

Choi: If you were so proud of her, why didn't you announced it to the world by preparing a bigger wedding? You didn't have anything to hide, did you? I wonder why the wedding was so secretive.

Girl: Mom, should we order more tea? (She's talking informally, the way only daughters talk to real mothers. To your in-laws, you should speak 'formally')

Choi: Shall we?

Girl: Excuse me... We need more tea & water.

Choi: My daughter-in-law studied abroad so she's very comfortable with people, even with me. She calls me mommy, mommy, you can't help but adore her.

Girl: I feel that talking too respectfully to your mother-in-law feels too cold and distant... am I the only one thinking like this?

Prof: Your daughter-in-law speaks the mind of the young people of today. Young people nowadays are trying to break down the gaps by talking more informally...

Choi: I feel this kind of language is very cute.

Girl: (to DA) Do you have fun studying history?

DA: Ye... Yes.

Girl: After studying abroad, I feel our history's too limited.

Prof: How so?

Girl: For example, when I read books by Homer like The Iliad and Odyssey, there are times I feel awed by the literary depths. Why is it that we don't have such great literary works like those? It's such a pity. Same goes with our folklore.

Prof: Do you agree, professor Ha?

DA: Have you heard of the LEGEND OF BARI-DEKI (?).

Girl: Bari... Deki?

DA: Yes. I suggest you read it if you have time. You will find lots of literary depths, no less than what you found reading THE ILIAD or ODYSSEY.

Mother: (to Choi) You've been studying history for this long. But I guess you haven't touched that subject yet.

AT LEE'S RESIDENCE

Mother: I finally felt released from the ten years of cold shoulders I got from them. You should have seen them, that woman with the daughter-in-law with informal language, how their faces got all wrinkled up.

Father: You've been through hell trying to get into that Club. You've finally gotten even with them.

Mother: From now, I won't join that Club, not even if they beg me.

Father: (to DA) Your mother-in-law can now lift her head up, thanks to you.

KS: This is the wife I picked for mother's sake.

Father: (to KS) You can't stay one moment without boasting about yourself, can you?

<<<<OHHHHHH the leg .he worried because her leg will hurt~..now he putting warm towel for her leg .but DA say it is okay~~
haha then the thing about washroom .i really think the mother told DA about how KS wet his bed when he was young was it ...and KS Was soooo upset whenever DA bring up the thing about washroom..and he say he going to the washroom!>>>>

KS puts hot towel over her leg wound, scolding her for following his mom around all day, neglecting her leg.

DA: That's enough. (She takes his hands off and covers her leg with the blanket)

KS: Let's do some more. It's pretty swollen.

DA: I'm OK. (KS looks at her reproachfully) What's wrong?

KS: I told you not to feel embarrassed.

DA: It's not that...

KS: Then what?

DA: We'll lose the mysterious feeling for each other if we see too much of our nakedness...

KS: Mysterious feelings? We'll be discharging gas all throughout.

DA: Are you going to discharge gas in front of me?

KS: That happens naturally. What do you want me to do?

DA: I always go to the bathroom...

KS: You go to the bathroom to expel gas? (She nods) Your way of life is very complicated, you know... (he stands up)

DA: Where are you going?

KS: I'm going to the bathroom to expel gas!

<<<<grandaunt went to see that old lady again ~..okay what did the old lady sayyyyyyyyyyyy!1 that make grandaunt so shocked?
the friend was saying maybe the old lady rem wrong about wrong person ..

grandaunt went home and asked granny if grandfather or is she really her grandfather sister ? ~granny seem so shocked at grandaunt question>>>

Grandaunt tells the old lady that she's friends with Ha Mangi's younger sister. The old lady's drunk, and she tells her that Ha Mangi can't have younger sister. If it's a daughter... maybe... but NOT a sister. IMPOSSIBLE!

Then, she goes on wondering... "Does that mean the the rumors were real? DA’s enjoying the coffee tranquilly but KS’s knocking at her legs with his, impatiently signaling for her to go.

KS: You finished your coffee, right? Then let’s go!

DA: I haven't finished yet.

KS: How can you take so long to drink coffee? Hurry up, and let's go!

DA: Why are you in such a rush?

KS: Don’t you know why?

DA pretends ignorance, smiling.

KS: Do you know how long I waited for this day? Why do you think I was going so crazy to get married?

DA: We went through so much in order to get married. Let’s sip coffee slowly and talk.

KS: Let’s talk later!

DA: Why are you like this?

KS: (at waitress) Excuse me. Bring me a pot full of coffee.

Waitress: Pardon me?

KS: A Pot of coffee!

Waitress: (smiling) I’ll refill your coffee.

KS: (upset) Bring me a kettle, I told you!

DA: What are you doing? You’re embarrassing me!

KS: Then why do you provoke me? I was going to stay up all night here, drinking coffee! Are we going to our rooms or not?

NEXT

KS’s mom: (picking up the phone) Hello! (smiling) Professor Ha! Have you arrived safely?

DA: Yes, we got here safely.

KS: You could call them later!

DA puts her finger in her mouth, telling him to shut up.

KS: Do you need to call them now?

DA: Yes, we’re really comfortable here. You must be so tired after the big event. Yes… yes, let me give the phone to him.

KS: Why are you doing this?

DA: Aren’t you going to talk to her?

KS: Mother! We’re doing really really well, so don’t worry about us. Good-bye! (Click)

KS’s mom: Why is he in such a rush?

KS’s dad: What’s wrong?

KS’s mom: He told me one sentence and he hang up on me!

Dad: Most probably he didn’t want to make that phone call. Professor Ha must have forced him to. How would he think of calling us when his mind’s full of something else right now.

Mom: HG is listening…

Dad: Do you think he’s a little boy? He knows everything!

NEXT

KS: Who are you calling now?

DA: Shouldn’t we call my parents?

KS: Yes, I guess we should.

DA: Granny!

Samwol: Isn’t Mr. Lee tired after driving for so long? Really? That’s great.

TY: Let me talk to him!

MS: Be quiet!

Samwol: Wait, let me transfer the call over to your mother. (Handing the phone) DA arrived safely.

YI: DA!

DA: We arrived safely, mother. Let grand-father know. (KS signals DA) Mother, he wants to talk to you.

KS: Mother, I’m Lee ‘subang’ (man in-law).

YI: Yes, Lee subang. Have a great time there!

KS: Mother! (Yes?) I thank you for raising your daughter so well and for giving her to me.

YI: I didn’t raise her… But I thank you for saying this. Go rest.

TY: Mother, let me talk to him.

YI: (To TY) You have something to say?

TY: Yes.

YI: (to KS) Your second brother-in-law wants to talk to you.

TY: KS!

Samwol: You should call him “Lee subang.”

TY: Lee subang!

KS: Yes, brother.

TY: Are you ready?

MS: (hitting him) I knew you’d do this!

TY: You’re about to consummate the war, so I want to know if you had enough warm up exercises. If you did not, go outside and run around the block 5 times, and stretch your back. (MS keeps hitting him to shut his mouth).

KS: Do I need to run around the hotel 5 times? I’m pretty strong without it.

TY: Don’t be so bigheaded and do as I say. If your heart’s beating too fast, drink some wine.

KS: Second brother, I know what to do. So let’s hang up.

TY: I’ll trust you.

KS: Yes brother, I’ll do my best!

DA: What did my second brother say?

KS: He told us to go to sleep right away!

AT NIGHT, SURRENDERED BY LIGHTED CANDLES.

DA shows her back to KS. He uncovers it, looking at the big scar on her shoulders. He touches it.

DA: It’s ugly, isn’t it?

KS: It must hurt a lot. I’d like to fix this, but your father said we shouldn’t touch this since it’d continue opening internally.

DA: Don’t look at it. It’s my own scar, but I’ve a hard time looking at it.

KS: I heard the pain gets deeper in the winter.

DA: Yes…

KS: It’ll be hard to look at you suffering then… but I will still love you. Because this scar is yours, when you suffer… I’ll suffer with you. (He kisses the wound. DA tears…)

LATER

KS’s hands are trying to touch DA but she’s not there. He wakes up and finds DA standing up. He walks up to her, hugging her from her back.

KS: Why are you up already? It’s still pretty dark outside.

DA: I didn’t know I could experience this one day, waking up like this in the morning… Sleeping next to someone at night and waking up right next to him in the morning… I couldn’t believe this while you were sleeping, so I kept looking at your face for a while… wondering if this isn’t all a dream. What if Granny Samwol whispes to me: “DA, wake up…” And I find out I never knew you, and that I have the same routine waiting for me: of going to work at school as I always did…

KS: Why do you think such weird things?

DA: Because I can’t believe this is real.

KS: If you were a dream, where I’d wake up in the morning to find out I never knew you, I’d go back to sleep then… I’d fall asleep so deeply that I’d never wake up again.

DA: (holding KS’s face) Be grateful this isn’t a dream. You are in front of me and I can touch you like this… So in the future, even if we go through very tough times, I’ll endure with patience without complaining too much… I’ll be satisfied that this man is before me, and I could touch him. That should be enough…

KS: You’ve met me… not in the next life, but in this one; not in any other land, but in the land of my fathers… You did not ignore my existence, but you acknowledged me… and you loved me. Thank you.

NEXT

DA: What was your grandmother’s birthday?

KS: I don’t know. My father was born in a very small rented room and my grandmother passed away before my father turned 5. My grandfather passed away when father was 9. We say we belong to the Kyungjoo Lee just because my father was born here. My grandfather never told him which root of the Lee he belongs to. My grandfather didn’t have the time to think about that, and maybe… he himself didn’t know which root he belonged to. Do you understand now why my father was so obsessed at buying a lineage book and pretend he comes from a family of deep ancestry?

DA: I’ll be very good to your parents. But I need your help.

KS: What kind of help?

DA: You just need to act, the way we acted dating…

NEXT

DA: OK, repeat after me.

KS: We’re on our honeymoon. It doesn’t make sense to do this now!

DA: “Hey, this soup doesn’t taste as good as mother’s soup. My wife may be a good cook, but she isn’t half as good as you, mother.”

KS: Should we practice that now?

DA: Do you want to start a fight already?

KS: Not really but…

DA: “Mother, do you think the tie my wife chose for me matches my suit? Can you pick me a matching tie instead.”

KS: She won’t believe it. I never wore a tie my mother chose for me. I always picked it myself.

DA: That might me a little too much then…

KS: This isn’t the time for it! We don’t have enough time to think about each other in our honeymoon. Why do you bring this acting thing right now?

DA: I want my in-laws to like me. That all depends on you, Mr. KS.

KS. How can you call me "Mr. KS" after we’re married. Forget about everything else. Let’s practice that first. I’ll be right there. Call me. “Yobo (Honey)!” Like that. (Walking away). Honey! Did you call me?

DA: No, I didn’t.

KS: (irritated) Let’s do it right! “What did you say? What did you just say?”

DA: I didn’t say anything.

KS: I told you to do it right!

DA: “Yo~ Come here…”

KS: Hey, woman! (Phone rings) Yes, second brother.

TY: Did you consummate it?

SY: Father’s embarrassed.

TY: Wait up. (to KS) Doesn’t the world look different to you after consummating?

KS: Tell me about it. Your sister’s face have a different color tone after losing her virginity.

DA: What are you doing?

KS: Your second brother’s asking me if we consummated our first night. (to TY) Right after waking up, your sister called me ‘Yobo, did you sleep well?’ I got the goosebumps I thought I’d die!

DA: (hitting him) stop it!

KS: We’re sightseeing right now, and she’s clinging onto me so tight I can’t even go to the bathroom. That’s not all…

TY: I got it, that’s enough. Let’s hang up!

KS: I’ve more to tell you brother!

TY: (hanging up) How can this guy be so shameless?

SY: Who told you to call him and mock him like that?

TY: Maybe he’s not letting DA get out of the hotel, hee hee…

DA: How can I go home and face them now?

KS: (looking like a child caught up cheating) If you had called me ‘Yobo’ when I asked you, I wouldn’t have done this.

DA: I just can’t call you like that…

KS: What’s so hard about this? You can just say it. How else are you going to call me then? Mr. Lee, is that it? In front of my parents?

DA: I can just say “Excuse me.”

KS: Excuse what? Are you going to call me like that even after having kids?

DA: No, I’ll call you So & So’s dad.

KS: So & So’s dad? That’s amazing… So & So’s dad. That sounds better than 'Yobo.' Since we’re at this, let’s come up with names for our kids. Taking a syllable from each of our names: how does KangDan sound to you? I like this name. "Kangdan’s mom," let’s go eat.

DA: Then, is our second child’s name going to be Ah-suck?

KS: That’s a bit weird.

HAVING LUNCH

KS: How many?!

DA: Seven, the lucky number.

KS: You want seven kids?!

DA: I want to have as many as I can. The population’s diminishing. Let’s contribute to society.

KS: But still, seven’s a bit too much. Do you know how many years you’ll have to be pregnant?

DA: Ten years should be enough.

KS: Are you serious?

DA: I promised Granny Samwol.

KS: How can you promise such a thing without consulting with your husband?

DA: Why? You don’t want to have too many kids?

KS: Do you remember the friend who carried your bride’s price box?

DA: Yes.

KS: He has a boy and a girl. But he almost got a divorce.

DA: What do you mean?

KS: They had a stormy romance and they got married. But after their first child, his wife completely ignored him. She loved changing pampers for the baby, but she didn’t pay attention if her husband was home or not. So much that my friend thought of faking an affair.

DA: What are you trying to say?

KS: Let’s make this clear.

DA: What?

KS: If you treat me like my friend’s wife did to him, I’m going to be hospitalized with severe depression. I don’t care if we have seven or seventeen. But if you’re going to ignore me because of them, I’m going to….!!!

DA: What will you do? Cheat on me?

KS: They may be my kids, but I’m going to be at war with them. I’ll demand that they return their mother to me.

DA: Will our little KangDan win?

NIGHT TIME

DA is laying her head on top of KS’s arm. But they look very uncomfortable. KS’s right arm is falling asleep but he dare not to admit it. DA suddenly sits up.

KS: What’s wrong?

DA: Aren’t we doing something wrong?

KS: About what?

DA: Didn’t know the arm-pillow could be this uncomfortable. I wonder why others do this.

KS: Yes, it was uncomfortable, wasn’t it? (She nods) And I thought I was the only one feeling like this…

DA: Did your arm get stiff?.

KS: Yes.

DA: (Massaging his arm.) Let’s stop this. I can’t fall asleep because of your arm. I feel uncomfortable, it’s strange.

KS: Wait a second.

DA: What are you doing?

KS: (Sitting in front of the computer) I’m going to find out why is the arm-pillow is so uncomfortable.

DA: Can you find that there?

KS: I’ll search. (Typing: Why is the arm-pillow so uncomfortable?)

NEXT SCENE: DA’s head is lower than KS’s, resting over KS’s shoulders rather than just on his arm.

KS: This is how it’s done!

DA: We’re clueless about so many things.

KS: I thought arm-pillow meant you’re sleeping on top of the arm. I didn’t imagine you’re supposed to lie lower than me.

DA: I feel we're such fools.

KS: Let’s this be a secret only the two of us know till we die. I’ll be too embarrassed if others find out.

DA: At least we’re not the only ones to experience this.

KS: We’re much better off than the guy who put this up on the internet. That guy suffered for an entire week and he thought his arm would get dislocated. (After smiling mischieviously, he jumps over her….)

Lights off…

NEXT SCENE

KS wakes up when he realizes DA’s not sleeping next to him. She’s sitting in front of the mirror, putting on facial lotion.

KS: Why are you such a light sleeper? Are you still afraid this might be a dream?

DA: Did I wake you up?

KS: (Looking at her face) Did you wash your face already?

DA: Granny Samwol told me that my grandmother, ever since she got married, never stood before grandfather without having washed her face first. And grand-mother told my mother when she just married, never to show her unwashed face to her husband. She said that this was how a wife showed respect to her husband.

KS: They lived in different times. I think you’d look pretty even if I see your unwashed and swollen face right after you wake up.

DA: I think I can understand them. I don’t think they ever used the word love to each other. Don’t you think this was their way of saying I love you? She would have wanted to show the best of herself to her husband and so she’d wake up early in the morning to wash herself pretty. I want to do that also. I want to love you with the same diligence they loved.

KS: (hugging her) I’m such a lucky man, to have a woman like you as my wife!

THEY’RE VISITING MUSEUMS. DA’s writing notes while KS’s trying to entertain himself…

DA: Once you asked me why I was always at the Art Center during school breaks, instead of traveling. You told me “You don’t know what to do with your time, do you?” Something sank inside me. I felt that somehow, you knew me so well. We were going to say goodbye pretty soon, but it wasn’t going to be easy to let go of someone who knew me this well. I was in a dilemma.

KS: That’s why I grabbed you and didn’t let you go.

DA: I you had not come after me, I might have gone to you in the end.

KS: (in disbelief) yah, right!

DA: Remember the day you found me at the lake? I was trying to comfort myself there, and to forget you… then I told myself that if I couldn’t forget you after the hundredths visit to the lake, that I would go to you and ask you one last time, if we were both really ending… that’s what I was thinking…

KS: Really?

DA: Yes.

KS: My impatience’s my enemy. If I had waited a little, I would have witnessed you coming after me. Then I wouldn’t have looked so foolish in front of you. But how long do you mean by a ‘hundredths visit”? A hundred days, perhaps?

DA: Around… 10 years?

KS: (laughing) I’m so glad I’m impatient by nature. This is a game I was never meant to win. If I had to wait 10 years just to hear you ask me “Are we both really ending?”~ I would have died of heart-attack while waiting.

DA: Let’s go eat, 'Yobo.'

KS: Hey… didn’t you say you couldn’t say it? I actually thought I would have to wait 10 more years to hear you say this.

DA: I’m becoming impatient, just like you….

KS's PARENTS...

KS’s mom: (on the phone) Yes? What do you mean by THAT type of marriage? (KS’s dad stops what he's doing to listen to the conversation) You have a strange way of talking! What about my daughter-in-law? I’m starting to question your character after hearing this. I was actually won over by my daughter-in-law’s personality! You have a daughter, so you shouldn’t say those things. Whenever I think of what she went through, I feel sorry for her and I don’t use this against her. Yes, I’m upset! My son loves her and I like her also. What’s wrong with that? But my lady… I’m thankful you care so much about my family… but do you really have the leisure to do this? I’ve heard rumors that your daughter-in-law got involved with a con artist and she lost plenty of money. Oh… yes… I’m glad to know it’s not true. But do you know something? I don’t understand why I hear so many bad rumors about your family… OK, let’s hang up.

KS’s dad tells her she shouldn't hang out with that kind of people and his wife agrees with him. He is so proud of her he told her he’ll buy her a huge diamond jewel.

[OTHER'S TRANSLATIONS...*** I hope 'lemonsorbet' does not mind I post it here... Thank you...]

QUOTE (lemonsorbet @ Mar 28 2009, 11:02 AM)
hg- there's a manga my older sister used to cry and read, saying its so sad. So i tried reading it too. There's a boy that loved a girl. But the girl is really sick. That girl goes out for a walk every morning in front of her house. Why does she go for a walk every morning even though she's sick? Because every morning the boy rides his bike to school. She wanted to see him like that , so she went out every morning. They both liked each other, but weren't able to show it to each other like stupids. Do you know what the part my sister would cry about and say is the most beautiful? Every night the boy would pick up all the rocks on the path the girl would walk on. Just in case she might trip and fall over one. I must have told the story really well.

sister- what happened to the two?

hg- i dont know. i dont remember the end.

sister- the girl must have died?

hg- At the time, I thought that boy was really strange. If he liked the girl and worried about her enough to pick up the rocks on the road because she might fall, I wondered why he just didn't confess he liked her, instead of going through all that hassle. Why didn't they just say they liked each other and see each other every day, and that they did a lot of needless actions I thought but.. from now on, if I'm going to go watch a movie with you, I'm going to make sure to go watch it ahead of time.

Night Time, On Top of The Tower

KS: Wow, I’m so happy! It’s great to be with you this late without having to say goodnight. It was always a torture to drop you off every night in front of your house and to leave you.

DA: I should say the same, right? That it was a torture to turn away from you and to enter my house.

KS: I felt it more.

DA: There will come days in the future when we won’t see each other for a while.

KS: How come?

DA: For example, when you go on a business trip.

KS: Really? Oh no… if there’s a need for it, I’ll ask your brothers to go instead. They’re in the same company. What are brothers for?

DA: In such days… I want to spend sleepless nights thinking about you. Even after ten or twenty years together... After spending a lifetime together, taking you so much for granted... I want to wake up in such lonely nights feeling that I’m empty without you.

KS: Let’s grow old like this. I don’t know how many days of our lives we’d have to spend apart from each other. But when those days come, let’s spend sleepless nights missing each other... and being thankful for growing old together, having someone who can keep us up all night while away...

AT DA'S HOUSE

TY: Welcome! (KS & DA greets them) Hey you, new groom! Why do you look so tired? (To SY) Brother, look at him! His face looks messy!

Father: Hey...

KS: (Bowing) We are back.

Father: OK, welcome! You should pay respect to your grandfather.

TY: DA, why does your husband's face look so tired?

AT THE GREAT-GRANDFATHER'S ROOM

DA & KS are bowing down to the dead ancestors.

Grandpa: (to the dead) He's DA's husband. (to KS) These are the spirits that have allowed you to stand next to her.

NEXT SCENE

The brothers, with the police officer guy, are hitting KS's feet with a dry fish, "for stealing the bride." Women are trying to stop them but TY is having way too much fun. YI asks grandfather to intervene but he tells her to let them have fun. DA tells them she'll sing but KS tells her they'll hit harder if she sings. TY stops hitting only after YI, worried for her son-in-law, makes a deal with him: the men of the house won't have to clean up during the upcoming weekend...

AROUND THE DINNER TABLE

KS: It really hurts!

TY: Don't whine. I was being mild.

MS: If I knew it was this fun, you should have been beaten when you came over to my house.

KS: What do you mean? You didn't go through this?

TY: I didn't. I rescued this woman while you stole my sister away.

KS: You're not being fair, second brother.

TY: You're talking so much I think you need some extra beating. Come out now!

KS: Forget it! I'll shut my mouth!

Grand-aunt: Stop it. I think he's learned his lesson well.

SY: (pouring drink to KS) Did you have fun during your honeymoon?

KS: (to TY) Can I... talk?

TY: See how he is, grand-aunt!

Grand-aunt: (to KS) What did you both do?

KS: (laughing) What else can we both do during our honeymoon?

Grand-aunt: What's that?

DA walks out of the room while everyone's laughing. "Why are you running away DA!!" "Look how she's blushing!"

INSIDE DA'S ROOM

DA: (washing KS's feet) Wow! It's really swollen.

KS: Second brother wasn't just kidding. He charged with passion, I tell you!

DA: You stole his dear sister from him. Of course he'd be passionate.

KS: It really hurts.

DA: What should I do, my poor husband! You're hurting so much.

KS: We must have at least one daughter.

DA: What?

KS: I want to get even by making my son-in-law go through the same thing I did.

DA: Father-in-laws don't beat up the feet of the son-in-laws.

KS: Didn't you know I don't follow traditions?

Night time, in bed

DA: Granny Samwol told me, “from now on, DA won’t feel the cold, even during a freezing winter weather.”

KS: I don't mind winter. But if we’re sticking to each other like this in the summer, aren’t we going to sweat?

DA: I just realized today how lonely Granny Samwol must be. She lived all her life alone like that. She didn’t experience the joy of knowing man, to love and to miss someone. How empty that must be… I could have ended like her… I thank you for helping me live differently.

They cuddle each other so much they look like one and the same...

NEXT MORNING

Grandpa: (to KS) Come here.

KS: (walking up to front) Yes.

Grandpa: Pour the drink offering today.

KS: Yes. (He starts doing so. Samwol starts weeping.)

Grand-aunt: What's wrong, granny?

Samwol: I'm wondering how happy the spirits must be, receiving drink offering from DA's husband.

Gandpa: Today, you be the first to bow ceremonially to them.

KS: Yes. At the hospital, Yungja and the newly couple bump into Chungap & Miyung (The girl from the hotel...)

Friday, March 27, 2009

QUOTE (mapikan @ Jan 24 2009, 05:51 PM)

'sandybabe88'
THANK YOU DO MUCH!!! (I'll love you to the MAX)

Since they had initially met as rivals, and since KS is very competitive by nature, it was funny to see them trying to outsmart each other during every conversations. What's interesting about this particular one, is that she said this right after KS told her he'll love her more & more in the future. I guess you cannot love more than the maximum, so it seems that she won the word game. Later on, KS admitted that she won most of the word games... and that he was glad she wasn't his business rival.

Regarding the metaphors that DramaOK well mentioned, I wanted to add the following:
I think someone else commented at this thread that KS put the word 암초 in his Cell Phone as Danah's ID. This too, is a metaphor.

According to the dictionary:
암초 = a (sunken) rock, an unknown reef, a deadlock, a rock, a snag. (Boats would sink because of this)

To call someone 암초 is like calling someone 'a big wall,' a 'tall mountain,' or simply 'trouble.' KS was actually calling DA 'a headache' .

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

FAMILY HONOR, EPISODE 46, HIGHLIGHTS
Translated by Priscilla

DA: Answer me before leaving. (She holds KS’s face with both her hands and kisses him) Aren’t you going to reply even now?

KS: ….

DA: From today, you’ll be in agony. You should reply and go. Or else, I won’t let you sleep all night. If I don’t get married right away, I feel I’d catch an illness. What should I do? Don’t I look pitiful? How long should I look like this? But, do you know?…

KS: Yes?

DA: It’s kind of fun to disagree like this.

KS: I didn’t know…

DA: What?

KS: I never expected I’d meet someone like you. So I thought it was OK to live as I did. Whenever people threatened, and cursed at me, I felt I’ve done nothing wrong. I was like that… But for the first time… I’m realizing the life I’ve lived…was awfully bad. That’s why I feel sorry for you. I’m so sorry that I’m scared to have you next to me (and you'd get hurt).

DA: I love even the part of you that had lived like that. I also love the part of you that is suffering at the realization of your past wrong doings. So I don’t want to wait… anymore, to go to you. So don’t tell me to wait any longer. We’re already late. Let’s not waste any more time.

NEXT

DA complains to KS over the phone that the bodyguard is embarrassing her. She asks him to ‘set her free’ but he doesn’t want to listen to her. Then she tells him she doesn’t want to see him, and that she has plans for the night.

At KS’s house:

KS’s mom: You came home early because professor Ha’s here, right?

KS: Is she here?

KS’s mom: You didn’t know? Dinner’s ready.

KS’s dad is very pleased with the soup, and he tells him to hurry up with the wedding preparation. KS’s mom also pleads to him to rush the wedding, telling him that she needs to get more history lessons.

NEXT

DA: No one’s on your side. Are you going to continue resisting?

KS: Yes.

DA: Are you serious?

KS: Why? You won’t know what else might go wrong if you marry me.

DA: I’m not scared. I can think of one thing only: that I must marry this scared man to puffed up his confidence a bit.

KS: I give up. Could it be otherwise? I always lose, so I’m losing again. Let’s go in.

NEXT

KS: Grandpa, I can’t go on.
